Need Adored? Rescue a Puppy!

In an effort to give back to my community of Norwin, I volunteer my photo services to Pet Friends of Irwin. They are a no kill shelter managed by an exceptional team of volunteers. This efficient group dedicates their time every day to help abandoned dogs and cats find forever homes. They called me last week when they had a “full house” of 8 dogs. By the time I was able to pay them a visit yesterday, they had picked up an additional 5 dogs! That “Full House” just doubled down into “Five of a Kind”. Check out these 13 dogs if you or someone you know is looking for a new furry companion. You will not only be helping the dogs and yourself, you will be helping our community. Homeless, but not Down and Out

Look into their eyes and you will see stories of joy, love, compassion, respect, gratitude and unfortunately, heartache. They speak not a word, but if they did, they would have no complaints. This is one of the many great characteristics of a dog. No matter how much these puppies feel abandoned, neglected, heart broken or depressed, they keep positive and are willing to adore their next families. After all, these eight puppies just want to be loved, unconditionally. If you or anyone you know is looking for a canine or feline, please contact Pet Friends in Irwin or call them at 724-863-7722. You can also see these wonderful puppies in person at Burton’s Total Pet in North Huntingdon on Saturday, April 27th! In addition, Pet Friends has a great staff of dedicated volunteers. Perhaps you may like to join them?

Being Loved in Return

There are few things in life more rewarding than volunteering for a non-profit at the local level. Pet Friends, Inc. in Irwin is about as local as it gets for me. They kennel their dogs at Carwen’s Grooming and Boarding where my wife and I attend obedience classes with our dogs. By taking photos of these adoptable pets, I get to meet the pets and help them find their forever homes within my local community.

It is so awesome the moment when a dog meets someone for the first time. They will sniff you, eye you up, come in for a pet, sit at your feet and appear to love you all within five seconds. A dog does not understand the concept of judging a book by its cover, for dogs use all of their senses when greeting someone new and are not concerned with looks alone.  They love unconditionally. I have heard that shelter dogs make the best pets, for they know what isolation feels like and understand the concept of loyalty. All of these dogs at Pet Friends, Inc. would be great additions to anyone’s family. All of them are adorable, happy and in desperate need to love and be loved in return.
