Among the perils of being a professional photographer is the ability to maintain a blog, web site, marketing and business plan and accounting ledger on a daily basis. Oh wow! Did I mention collaborating with clients and capturing their dreams and editing their photos? First and foremost, congratulations to Sara & Nick on their marriage. They were married and had their reception at the Omni William Penn in Pittsburgh, PA. It was delightful to say the least. My mission this year is to teach techniques and relate my experiences so budding photographers know what they are getting into and would like some insights. Here are the first tips of 2017! #1. Senior Portrait Listening Lessons

I am honored to capture any kind of milestone but capturing a senior portrait ranks among the most memorable. The student is in the midst of being confronted with one of the biggest transitions as an emerging adult. The biggest tip that I can offer any photographer is to get to know the student. Don’t just ask questions while hiding behind your camera but talk to them and more importantly, LISTEN. This is an exciting time for them and they have a ton to say.
