Senior Portraits at Autumn Ridge Farm

Having picturesque scenery really enhances a portrait in reflecting one’s personality. Many clients request wildflowers or old cars in a rural setting. Lisa hired me to take her family portraits 10 years ago so I was excited that she reached out to me to take her daughter’s senior portraits. For a small fee, Autumn Ridge Farms gives permission to access their working farm. This rural location fulfills the wildflowers and old car wish. The bonus was getting visits from an overly friendly cat and surprise visit from a Highlander calf. Big cheer goes out to Riley for her enthusiasm! I hope you have a great senior year! Hiatus Rejuvinated

My niece, Aley, and her groom Joe embraced each other on October 31, 2022. Yes, that seems like a decade ago but they are still celebrating their honeymoon – as it should be. I haven’t been blasting everyone with promos and blog posts in a while because I didn’t know where I would be after hip surgery. Well let me tell you that modern medicine and prayers are miraculous! Wedding on the Lawn

Fast forward from last blog that featured Bekah & Luc’s engagement to their Big Day! Their April wedding became a July wedding that was celebrated in the front yard. It was perfect! The challenges of planning a 2020 wedding created opportunities that featured romantic settings. The bride made her grand entrance from the home during the processional as the groom beamed at her while waiting under a tent. Wedding Adjustments 2020

An amazing year of 2020 has just finished. Yep, that is not a typo and I am not delusional. A wedding that has been in the planning phase for 2 years will NOT be stopped… NOT now, NOT EVER! Fortunately, all of the crazy shifting of dates in 2020 to alternative dates has been relatively easy. I recommended Friday or Sundays & many brides were already thinking that move to avoid venue, DJ & photographer conflicts with other wedding clients. A reputable photographer will require a signed contract. This is absolutely crucial: it locks in the photographer to be present on your wedding day unless an act of God determines otherwise. Out of the Blue

On occasion, I will get a request through a Google key word search. Bob Wise from African Plains Taxidermy contacted me to photograph a blue wolf he mounted for the cover of a catalog. I was excited for this challenge since it is something that I typically don’t do. I am constantly looking for ways that take me out of my comfort zone of photographing people. This is another collaboration with Chris Lane as he helped me set up the shot to reflect the lighting conditions that existed in the original mountainous landscape. A little soft golden gel to mimic the evening sun and the camera angle made the wolf appear dominate. Post production wasn’t as easy as the photo shoot but I think the final catalog image looks pretty cool. African Plains Taxidermy is based in Hermnie, PA.
