Rain will not Oppress Bliss

Nicole and Mike had a wet start to their wedding day. As a photographer, I would rather have a beautiful, cloudy day filled with rain instead of a sunny day filled with scorching temperatures. A cloudbank creates a natural “soft box” effect that is comparable to working in the photo studio. The highlight to shadow exposure ratio is not as extreme as it is on a sunny day. I still pop a flash at times to brighten up those eyes. Even though it rained on their wedding day, it most definitely did not rain on their parade! Congratulations Nicole and Mike! Mandi and Chris celebrate in NHT!

I find many things enjoyable about a career in photography. One of the things is making people happy – or should I “cheesily” say (while rolling my eyes), “making people smile”. I love the interaction that occurs when capturing an image that celebrates a moment in life. I was extremely excited to capture the image of the groomsman following the instructions to folding the pocket square. In additional to this smokin’ hot couple, highlighs include pre-ceremony at a swanky hotel in Monroeville, a ceremony in Irwin and a rustic-chic reception in North Huntingdon. If you can name two out of the four places we visited, you will be entered into a drawing to receive a portrait session for $65.00 ( valued at $135.00)! Just write your guesses in the commments section and I will pull a name next Monday night! Congratulation and I wish the best for Mandi and Chris!!! Aaron McGregor Photography

Celebrating 15 Years in Norwin!

In 1995, I was fresh out of college with a BFA from the University of Arizona’s photography program. We settled in the Norwin area in 2000 after my wife, Heather (N.H.S. Grad of 1991) and I got married. Imagine my surprise and astonishment when it took me 14 years to book my first NHT wedding! I once photographed a wedding at the Immaculate Conception Church and several receptions at Stratigos, the Barn and Pluma, but I never had a wedding client that lived in NHT. Over the course of 14 years, I captured tons of weddings in Armstrong County where I was raised and in every direction from NHT. Gabby asked on Facebook, as everyone does on All About the Norwin Area, about a wedding photographer. A few people recommended me along with a list of 50 others (I am sure you have seen those non-stop referral comment lists – overwhelming to be sure). She and Matt had a lovely ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jeannette. We stopped at White Oak Park for a few quick formals and continued onto Stratigos for a wonderful reception. My business partner, Chris and I even stayed an additional hour without charging the couple since that hour was usually travel time. Please contact me and ask about my 20th Anniversary Specials at Aaron McGregor Photography. Thank you!

Referrals are the Best

I love hearing that someone knows about my photo business because they were referred by a formal client or they hired me because they were in a bridal party. This was the case with Amanda and Matt who planned their wedding from Virginia and were big time Steelers fans to boot! Amanda was a bridesmaid in her cousin’s wedding I captured eight years ago in Harrison City. I dropped off my talented partner, Chris Lane at the Marriott in Greensburg so he could capture the guys as I continued onto Export to get photos of the girls. The wedding took place in Murrysville and we got in a few formals at the Greensburg Country Club before a storm hit. It was great seeing the family again and catching up with Amanda’s cousin, Samantha. In closing, I just want to say THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU for your referrals! You are the best! Go Stillers! Aaron McGregor Photography

Need Adored? Rescue a Puppy!

In an effort to give back to my community of Norwin, I volunteer my photo services to Pet Friends of Irwin. They are a no kill shelter managed by an exceptional team of volunteers. This efficient group dedicates their time every day to help abandoned dogs and cats find forever homes. They called me last week when they had a “full house” of 8 dogs. By the time I was able to pay them a visit yesterday, they had picked up an additional 5 dogs! That “Full House” just doubled down into “Five of a Kind”. Check out these 13 dogs if you or someone you know is looking for a new furry companion. You will not only be helping the dogs and yourself, you will be helping our community.
